5 – Days Tour of traditional Japanese hot springs and the rich nature of Tohoku
You can enjoy the traditional hot springs in the rich nature of Tohoku, which has been famous since ancient times. Traditionally, mixed bathing was common in Japanese hot springs, and some, including Tohoku, still follow that tradition.
Tour Route: Tokyo – Yamagata – Aomori – Akita – Tokyo

Day 1: Tokyo – Namegawa Onsen (Yamagata)
Namegawa Onsen (milky hot springs) is a popular local and traditional hot springs discovered 530 years ago, where people still enjoy mixed bathing. Here you can also enjoy the rich mountainous surroundings and waterfalls.
Stay in: a Japanese - style Inn (Ryokan) in Namegawa Onsen (hot springs)
Meals: dinner
Day 2: Namegawa Onsen – Sukayu Onsen (Aomori)
Here you can enjoy one of the oldest mixed bathing houses called Sennin Buro, (literal meaning: the bath for 1,000 bathers). It’s made of beech wood and considered to have special healing powers.
You can also enjoy the view of the Hakkoda – san mountain ranges. It’s the heaviest snowfall area in the world.

Meals: breakfast and dinner
Day 3: Sukayu Onsen – Namari Onsen
Enjoy hiking along the Oirase Stream flowing along the base of the Oirase Gorge on the way to Namari Onsen. It’s well known as having some of the best scenery in Japan.
Namari Onsen: Stay overnight at a traditional house, the Shirosaru no Yu.
It’s an unusual mixed bathing experience: you bathe standing up!

Meals: breakfast and dinner
Day 4: Namari Onsen – Nyuto Onsen
Free time in Kakunodate City: Enjoy exploring the city, a former castle town with a Samurai district.
After sight seeing you’ll travel to Nyuto Onsen and enjoy Towada-Hachomantai National Park.
Stay in: a Japanese – style Inn (Ryokan) in Nyuto Onsen
Meals: breakfast and dinner
Day 5: Nyuto Onsen – Tokyo
Back to Tokyo.
